Mitch Larkin goes public with new girlfriend after Emily Seebohm split

Aussie swimming star Mitch Larkin has gone public with his new partner after splitting with fellow Olympian Emily Seebohm last year.

Larkin and Seebohm were the golden couple of Australian swimming, dating for three years before the backstrokers split in messy fashion over accusations Larkin was having an affair.

Seebohm repeatedly took aim at Larkin on social media in the aftermath of their ugly break-up but he denied ever cheating on her.

Both stars have moved on and Larkin has recently shone the social media spotlight on his new flame. The two-time Olympic medallist is dating Sinead Cronin, posting photos on Instagram of the pair together.

One snap is from a Halloween party, where Larkin dressed up as an astronaut while Cronin sported green hair and face paint.

“Quick trip to space and found myself a ‘Miss Milkyway’ #outofthisworld,” Larkin captioned the photo.

Cronin commented on the post with tongue in cheek, saying: “Wow ..... you WOULD upload THIS one of all photos. A photo of me with green hair and a blue face ...”

On Wednesday Larkin uploaded a picture with Cronin at what the Courier Mail reports was the 21st birthday party of Australian swimmer Shayna Jack in Brisbane.

Cronin — a 26-year-old law student, according to the Courier Mail — commented on that post with four love heart emojis.

Earlier this year Seebohm shared updates on her love life, confirming she was dating Brisbane-based Nova radio presenter David “Luttsy” Lutteral.

In an interview with U On Sunday on the weekend, Seebohm said she still crosses paths with Larkin but has a new-found happiness with Lutteral in her life.

“Unfortunately, I do (see Larkin) … I don’t really have any way of getting around that because we’re both in the same industry but it’s a bit like ‘look to the left’ and pretend he’s not there,” Seebohm said.

“I feel like I’m in a different spot in my life, it obviously taught me a lot and I came away worse off but better off because I met someone truly amazing.

“Someone that I feel is very genuine with his feelings and very, I guess, mature and what I’m looking for, someone who will treat me right and who will look after me and will be there to support me, so, I guess I came off pretty well.”

Larkin denied ever cheating on Seebohm but she still posted several cryptic messages on social media as the fallout from their relationship breakdown turned ugly.

At one point last year she posted a photo on her Instagram story which said: “Something I learned about people … if they do it once, they’ll do it again.”

The seven-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist issued another cryptic warning on Twitter, interpreted by many fans as another swipe at Larkin — and his reported anger at their break-up becoming public knowledge.

“I’m over the drama you created. Now you can deal with what comes next,” she wrote.

Seebohm had earlier posted an image on Instagram with a message that appeared to be about Larkin. “The sad thing is, I actually thought you were different,” she wrote.
